How to refresh Beeswax Wraps using an electric oven

Also known as repasturising, we recommend refreshing your beeswax wraps every few months to keep them fresh and to rejuvenate the self-sealing finish.

Refreshing your wraps will also help to get rid of anything nasty that may have accidentally come into contact with your wraps, or an accidental hot water wash!

This video tutorial is for electric ovens only, please don’t try this with a gas oven as wax is highly flammable and dangerous! If you have a gas oven, follow our iron refresher guide instead.

You will need:

  • 1 large tray
  • 1 large sheet of baking or greaseproof paper
  • Your old wraps

What to do:

  • Preheat your oven to 60 degrees
  • Pop one large sheet of baking paper onto your large tray, then add your wrap on top
  • Put the tray in the middle of your oven for between two and four minutes, being careful to keep a close eye to check when all the wax is melted and not leave anything unattended
  • When the wax is melted and your wrap looks ready, remove the tray from the oven
  • Carefully pick up the wrap at its corners, and waft to air dry

Your wrap is then ready to use as normal!

If you wrap is in need of a bit more wax, buy our Rewax Bar and grate a little over the wrap before you pop it in the oven. Click here for more information on to use our rewax bars.
